Bump for the afternoon crowd since I rarely post to oppo. 130K KM, like new interior (on a 14 year old car!), the exterior has quite a bit of slight cosmetic damage like dings, indentation scratches, bumper gap, and one missing door handle (actually, it's just half the handle, you can still open it easily enough). Comes with two sets of rims (those pictured, plus these in this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ). It seems entirely stock, so a SOHC D13 motor (75hp? It seems like more) but it handles ridiculously well and has pretty much no lag time between pedal and go. I got it up to around 120KM/hr in just a few seconds. It has just been given its two year inspection (shakken) and prefectural taxes. I'm paying 100,000 yen for it, approximately $975.
I'd like some thoughts on what I can do with it, and maybe suggestions for how to clean up the exterior.

That is very cool! Check out APiDAOnline.com's articles on flipping cars for helpful links to car wash and detailing websites, as well as his tips and personal supplies he uses to clean up his cars.
Edit: apparently that one (as it's a TS) has the 16v engine which gives you 89HP (91PS) and (from what wikipedia tells me) AWD. Very awesome!

if it's already a d-series, then any of the d15/16 would be super simple, or a B16/18

BUFF THE SHIZAWOCKA OUT OF IT! IT'LL BE MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD
In all seriousness, mightycarmods is the best thing on youtube. It's all about the little touches. Anyone can take some BLAAAAAACK spraypaint and add some dark accents to any part of their car. You can also paint your wheels using this helpful MCM video (maaaaaad)
Any dings and dents can be fixed using this guide. It'll be a little more work, but it makes the car look much nicer. Plus these same techniques apply to things like bumpers and hood scoops and trim damage. Keep your car maaaaad and happy

Even considering the banged up exterior, that looks like a good deal for just under $1000, especially if it has no mechanical issues. I second Party-vi's recommendation APiDA's got great resources linked for cleaning up a "bargain" car. I actually really like those little six-spoke jobbies. Wish they had that wheel on the US market Fit.

Yeah, I had an EK3, so I was thinking about a bigger D-series or a B-series, but honestly, I think an engine swap is a bit out of my time and cost commitment at the moment, and it's already ridiculously peppy. I couldn't max it out though because, well, honestly, here in Japan, not enough straight roads to do that, save the highways and that costs too much.

Yup, no mechanical problems. The current owner doesn't know much about cars (I looked up as much as I could as soon as I saw the photos and was like DAY-UM), but the owner previous to her apparently knew what he had, and took really good care of it. The interior is spotless, and under the hood I could tell it had been well maintained. There are no mechanical issues that I could find or that appeared on test drive. Also, of course, brand new clean inspection which is quite thorough.

But... but... K-Series!!! lol
If you're gonna go B-Series, do a B20 w/ B18 head.

does sound like this little thing might be AWD, so a b20 from a CRV with a manual awd trans would work!

if it was me that was in Japan I would look for a neat Kei Car. but I do have an unhealthy obsession with kei cars.
but for an unbiased response I would say do it. you can't go wrong at $1000 for this.
it's a honda with 130000km's which means you are good for another 130000kms easy.the fact that it's inspected for the next 2 years makes it an easy decision.
Nice Price all the way!

Likely. This is the first car that I had that I can modify in about nine years. I didn't want to modify my BMW of course it was already modified by the previous owner but it was a sleeper, stock on the outside so I just didn't touch it just used it as is but before that I had my Honda civic EK three and I've done quite a bit with that. That of course was nine years ago so... Out of practice.

Nice, looks like an early 2000's Fit and, oddly as it seems, the Fit is a pretty cool car thanks to its touring versions. If the only issues with this one are battered panels, you should definitely go for it; bodywork is usually much easier to perform than having to fix up mechanical issues or replace interior parts which might not be readily available antmore.

AWD? Dayum, that's awesome. Give it a little drop, sportier wheels and the right stance, and it wouldn't look too out of place next to a Fit Touring Car

You're right, I just checked Wikipedia due to the possibility of AWD and it was superceded by the Fit. Neat!
130 thousand km isn't that high too. My 95 Fiat is close to 126 thousand, and it rarely gives me any headaches at all.
